SEO Basics & Best Practices You Need to Know

A website that ranks well in Google Search is one of the best ways to get eyes on your business and feet through the door. But how exactly does one achieve this? Among the many factors that go into a successful business website, a sound search engine optimization (SEO) strategy is one of the most integral. With an understanding of some of the core SEO basics & best practices, you can build a web presence that gets your chiropractic practice noticed, attracts new and past patients, and helps establish your business even when dealing with stiff competition.

SEO Basics & Best Practices You Need to Know

Make the Most of Your Meta

Metadata is a key element to helping websites and pages rank in Google Search. It also determines how your website appears to users on a Search Engine Results Page (SERP). The meta title (or title link) and meta description (or snippet) both describe to some extent what appears on a page and encourage a user to click. Both should be brief, to the point, descriptive, and unique. What’s more, you’ll want to be sure that each adheres to character limits—meta titles should typically be around 50 or 60 characters, and keep in mind that this will likely include the name of your practice in some form or fashion. Meta descriptions should come in somewhere around 100-160 characters.

Optimize for Mobile

It shouldn’t come as any great surprise that a large percentage of internet travelers browse on their smartphones. Because this is the way so many people access information on the internet, Google indexes and ranks websites on a mobile-first basis. And because of this, one of the very best practices to consider is mobile optimization. Responsive design covers your bases by providing a layout that scales appropriately to desktop browsers, mobile browsers, and everything in between.

Don’t Skimp on Helpful Content

When users visit your website, they’re likely looking for the answer to some kind of question. Whether that question is which services or products they should be considering to remedy an issue or whether your chiropractic practice is the right fit for their needs, that leaves you with the need for what Google deems “helpful, reliable, people-first content.” The more content you have on your website that fits these parameters—including dedicated pages and blogs—the more likely your website is to rank well in SERP and, more specifically, outrank your competition.
