This past Halloween, ChatGPT launched a new search function that “blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more.” Offered up as a smarter alternative to search engines like Google Search—which is also AI-enhanced thanks to its new Overviews feature—ChatGPT looks to change the way that users find content and businesses reach customers. So what does this mean for chiropractic marketing? Let’s take a look.
What Is ChatGPT Search?
Per OpenAI’s Oct. 31 announcement:
“ChatGPT can now search the web in a much better way than before. You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more.”
The feature is currently only available to Plus and Team users and will eventually be available to everyone. Currently, all users are able to see source links to websites when asking ChatGPT questions.
To use ChatGPT Search (once it’s available to you), you’ll simply go to the ChatGPT website, enter your query in the message box under “What can I help with?”, and click the icon in the lower left-hand side that looks like a globe. This will allow you to get results straight from the web as you would with Google, but with added context generated by ChatGPT’s AI model.
OpenAI says that the goal of coupling its conversational AI with search engine functionality is to make it easier for users to find what they’re looking for while helping “content owners gain new opportunities to reach a broader audience.”
What Does AI Search Mean for Chiro Marketing?
AI-enhanced and -powered search functions are still quite new, but one thing has not changed: A well-optimized website with useful content that establishes Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness is crucial for ranking and ensuring your chiro marketing efforts land.
Say, for example, that an individual in Brooklyn, NY, wants to learn more about Williamsburg Chiropractic. Because this practice’s website has an SEO-optimized homepage, about page, and contact page—not to mention several more relevant pages and a regularly updated blog—ChatGPT favors that information when answering a question.

A user could use this information to determine that the practice is trustworthy, learn about its money-saving introductory offer for new patients, get the necessary contact information, and schedule a first appointment.
Ultimately, it’s hard to say whether ChatGPT Search will replace Google as the search engine of choice. More likely, both will exist as a means for users to find information and for businesses to reach those looking for information. Through it all, responsive websites, SEO-friendly site content, and social media marketing will almost certainly remain critical components of attracting new patients.
